Class of 2022 Honors Staff Member with Kathleen Buckley Award
In recognition of her compassion for students and commitment to going above and beyond for the St. Lawrence community, Student Activities and Leadership staff member Ashlee Downing-Duke was awarded the Kathleen Buckley Outstanding Staff Member Award.
Members of the Class of 2022 celebrated Downing-Duke during the Last Lecture and Senior Class Awards ceremony in May.
A seven-year employee of the University, Downing-Duke was praised by members of the graduating class for “her positivity and her ability to take on so many roles,” noting that she “always makes you feel like you have a place here,” and “is one of the kindest people I have encountered at SLU.”
Prior to becoming Senior Associate Director of Student Activities and Leadership and Director of the Sullivan Student Center, Downing-Duke enhanced student life at St. Lawrence as Associate Director of Student Activities and Leadership, supporting student groups through community service, social justice, and service trips.
Downing-Duke is the third staff member to receive the award named in memory of The Reverend Kathleen Buckley, St. Lawrence’s beloved University Chaplain for 19 years who passed away in January 2020.
