Each summer, St. Lawrence University offers a dynamic array of courses taught around the world.
In Summer 2022, Dr. Val Lehr led students in Ireland through her course, "Place and Nationalisms in Ireland." During this summer course, students studied Irish history and geography as well as popular memory, memorialization, and the formation of national identity. Excursions included Newgrange and Knowth (passage tombs from 3200 BC) and monasteries from the 6th century, as well as sites connected to modern Irish history, including the Easter Rising, the War of Independence, and the Northern Ireland partition, and “The Troubles."
