Charles A. Dana Professor of Economics and Co-Chair of Economics Cynthia Bansak recently had two papers published in academic journals.
"Refugee Admissions and Public Safety: Are Refugee Settlement Areas More Prone to Crime?" was published as part of the International Migration Review by Sage Journals. Bansak's work "(failed) to find any statistically significant evidence of refugee resettlements raising local arrest or offense rates."
"Behind Every High Earning Man is a Conscientious Woman: The Impact of Spousal Personality on Earnings and Marriage" was published in the Journal of Family and Economic Issues by SpringerLink. The work examined the relationship between personality and own earnings, spousal earnings, and marriage.
Bansak received a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California at San Diego and a B.A. in economics from Yale University. Her work has been published in various academic journals, and she has also recently co-authored a textbook on the "Economics of Immigration" by Routledge Publishers. Bansak offers courses in econometrics, labor economics, immigration, the Fed Challenge, and money and banking.
