Anna Fahr
Assistant Professor of Digital Media and Film Anna Fahr debuted her feature film across the world this fall with festival screenings in Ecuador, France, Algeria, Italy, and Spain. The film, titled "Valley of Exile," is set in the early years of the Syrian War, and chronicles the journey of two sisters who find unexpected refuge in a makeshift settlement in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley after fleeing war-torn Damascus.
The film was also released on VOD in Canada on Apple TV, Amazon, Vimeo On Demand, and Shaw Media.

Jungjun Park
Assistant Professor of Economics Jungjun Park was selected as the recipient of the William B. Bradbury, Jr. Faculty Award for this academic year. The award recognizes outstanding faculty and provides financial support for advancing their research endeavors.
Park says it is an incredible honor to receive this recognition, and plans to utilize the $2,500 award to further his research, which focuses on enhancing our understanding of market dynamics by improving the ability to predict significant turning points in financial markets.
Park says he is immensely grateful for the resources and opportunities St. Lawrence offers to its faculty. He says this generous support allows him to contribute not only to his field but also to elevate the university’s reputation as a hub for innovative and impactful financial research.
Park also recently had one of his research papers accepted for publication in the prestigious Journal of Risk Management in Financial Institutions (JRMFI). The paper, titled "Unveiling Market Turning Points: Analyzing Skewness, Kurtosis, and Hurst Exponent in Intraday Data," was coauthored with Clemens Kownatzki from Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, and delves into the critical relationship between skewness, kurtosis, and the Hurst exponent in intraday (high frequency) financial data, providing fresh insights into identifying market turning points—an area of significant importance for financial risk management.
The paper is scheduled to appear in Vol. 18, No. 2, which is due for publication in March 2025.
Howard Eissenstat
Laurentian Associate Professor of History and Department Chair Howard Eissenstat was recently interviewed by the Berlin newspaper Tagesspiegel regarding the impact of Trump’s victory on Turkish and European foreign policy.
Eissenstat also published an essay in World Politics Review on Turkey’s expectations of changed foreign policy dynamics when Donald Trump takes office again. In the essay, Eissenstat argues that although Ankara may find the incoming Trump administration an easier partner to work with than the Biden team, nothing with Trump is ever certain, and the risks facing Turkey associated with another Trump presidency may end up being far greater than the officials currently rejoicing in Ankara ever expected.
