Associate Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures Zhenjun Zhang has made an important contribution to the field of Chinese studies in the English-speaking world through publishing a new book.
Anthology of Tang and Song Tales: The Tang Song chuanqi ji of Lu Xun, which Zhang co-edited with Victor H. Mair, Professor of Chinese Language and Literature at the University of Pennsylvania, is the first complete English rendition of the 45 famous tales in the monumental anthology selected by Chinese writer, essayist, poet, and literary critic Lu Xun. Many of the pieces in the book are rendered for the first time.
Zhang received his Ph.D at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, his master’s degree at Beijing University, and his bachelor’s degree from Zhengzhou University in China. At St. Lawrence, he teaches Mandarin Chinese, Chinese Literature and Film, Chinese Culture through Fiction and Film, and Buddhism and Daoism through Literature and Film.
