Neuroscience major wins award for Honors Thesis
Colin Hart was recently awarded the 2018 FODYLL North Country Studies award for the social sciences for his Senior Honors Thesis “Rural Libraries as Means of Improving Health Literacy in Canton, New York”. Colin’s project investigated how local residents use the Canton Free Library to learn health information and how the library could be utilized to address obstacles to good health faced specifically by rural residents. This work, mentored by Dr. Kari Heckman, was also presented at the St. Lawrence University Festival of Science in late April. Colin will begin his studies in pursuit of an Osteopathic Medicine degree (DO) at the New York Institute of Technology in fall 2019.
