Patti Frazer Lock Gives Keynote Address at National Mathematics Meetings
Patti Frazer Lock recently returned from giving an invited keynote address at the annual AMATYC (American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges) conference in Omaha, Nebraska.
The address, on “Updating Recommendations for Introductory Statistics,” was one of the most highly attended at the conference. Dr. Lock also gave an invited lightning talk on “Changing GAISE” in the IGNITE session at the conference.
Patti Frazer Lock is a Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at St. Lawrence University. She is a co-author of Statistics: Unlocking the Power of Data by Lock, Lock, Lock, Lock, and Lock. She is also a co-author with Deb Hughes-Hallett’s Calculus Consortium of texts in Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Applied Calculus, Pre-calculus, and College Algebra. She has chaired the SIGMAA on Statistics Education, has served on the ASA-MAA Joint Committee on Statistics Education, served on the Committee on the Undergraduate Program in Mathematics of the MAA, and chaired the Applied Data Analysis course report committee for the MAA Curriculum Guide. She is currently co-chairing the committee to revise the College GAISE report (Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education) for the ASA. She has won numerous teaching and presentation awards. She is passionate about finding ways to help students succeed in and enjoy introductory courses in mathematics and statistics.
