St. Lawrence University has named Florence W. Hines vice president and dean of Admissions and Financial Aid, President William L. Fox announced on Dec. 14. She will begin her duties in early summer 2018.
Hines has served McDaniel College in Maryland as vice president of enrollment and dean of admissions for 12 years.
“Florence will bring to St. Lawrence many seasons of demonstrated success in admissions marketing, financial aid, and enrollment transformation” Fox said in his memo to campus. “She is experienced in positioning student recruitment to align with core institutional strategies and academic strengths.”
Prior to serving McDaniel College, Hines spent five years in successively responsible positions at Spring Hill College in Alabama, four years at Cornell College in Iowa, and 13 years at Millsaps College in Mississippi, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in business administration.
Hines replaces Jeffrey Rickey, who retired at the end of 2016. Since his retirement, Jeremy Freeman served as executive director of Admissions, Patricia Farmer served as executive director of Financial Aid, and Musa Khalidi served as executive director of International Admissions.
“Florence will undoubtedly have the best leadership team possible as she joins the Laurentian community in the new year,” Fox said.
