Astronomers attend AAS Meeting in New Orleans
Henry Priest Professor of Physics Aileen O'Donoghue and Tyler Karasinski '24 attended the 243rd meeting of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) in New Orleans, Louisiana. Tyler gave a poster presentation of his senior research project, Adapting ‘A Generalist, Automated ALFALFA Baryonic Tully-Fisher Relation’ for use with Green Bank Telescope Observational Data, along with his fellow student collaborator on the project, Arya Desai '24 of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
At the meeting, Dr. O'Donoghue met with former St. Lawrence Physics students who are now advancing in their own careers as professional astronomers: Dr. Steven Goldman '13 (Science Software Engineer, Space Telescope Science Institute), Dr. Evan Smith '16 (Scientific Data Analyst, Green Bank Observatory), and Hailee Perkins '22 (graduate student, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign).
