St. Lawrence University has established an Early Acceptance Agreement with the University of Rochester’s Accelerated Bachelor’s Program for Non-Nurses (ABPNN) in their School of Nursing.
The Early Acceptance Agreement allows St. Lawrence students to apply to Rochester’s ABPNN during their junior year, with acceptance of up to two qualified candidates before the beginning of the students’ senior year. The 12-month ABPNN enables individuals who already have a bachelor’s degree to complete coursework and clinical training in order to earn a bachelor of science in nursing.
“This early acceptance opportunity enables our students to bypass the stress and cost of submitting multiple applications during their senior year,” said Karin Heckman, associate professor of biology and co-chair of St. Lawrence’s Health Careers Committee. “We are happy to establish this connection with the University of Rochester to give our students an edge in gaining admission to this high-caliber nursing program,”
Upon completion of this program, students will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become registered nurses and begin their careers in healthcare.
“I’m so excited to offer this early acceptance opportunity to students,” added Jane Kring, academic support specialist and co-chair of the St. Lawrence’s Health Careers Committee. “Multiple SLU alumni have decided to attend the University of Rochester’s School of Nursing based on both the quality of their program and the competitiveness of their financial aid packages.”
The Early Acceptance Agreement between St. Lawrence and Rochester’s School of Nursing takes effect in October 2019.
