St. Lawrence Biology Student and Professor attend Forest Monitoring Conference
Senior Conservation Biology Major Olivia Bernier and Piskor Professor of Biology attended the annual conference of the Forest Ecosystem Monitoring Cooperative held December 14 at the University of Vermont. The conference focus was “Forests as solutions to climate change, biodiversity, and well-being”. Bernier’s attendance at the conference was funded by the Biology Department. Olivia is currently working on her senior Honors project in which she is using data she collected during a summer fellowship as part of the Liberal Arts Science Scholars program as well as data collected by students in Barthelmess’ 2017 and 2021 Forest Ecology classes to assess forest health for several forests in St. Lawrence County.
