St. Lawrence University’s Board of Trustees has elected Timothy J. Simpson, Class of 1980, for a six-year term beginning July 1.
Simpson, an attorney, is executive vice president of the Covanta Holding Company, an internationally recognized owner and operator of large-scale, energy-from-waste and renewable energy projects with operations in the United States, Canada, Ireland, China and Italy.
He also serves on the board of trustees of the Harding Land Trust, which is focused on open space and habitat preservation, and of Good Grief, Inc., which provides unlimited and free support and counseling services to children who have lost a sibling or parent.
Simpson is an active St. Lawrence University volunteer, providing career advising to students and participating in Reunion fundraising, the Laurentians in Residence program and the Parents Committee.
He received a bachelor’s in history from St. Lawrence in 1980 and a law degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1983.
He and his wife, Carolyn ’81, live in Morristown, New Jersey, and have three children, Anna, Molly ’13 and Teddy.
