St. Lawrence Ranked 10th in State for Graduation Rates
Buffalo-based Business First magazine ranked St. Lawrence University as having the 10th highest graduation rate of all upstate New York colleges and universities.
Business First also ranked St. Lawrence 11th in the state for retention, the percentages of first-year students who come back for a second year.
Evelyn P. Jennings, associate dean of academic advising and associate professor of history, told the Watertown Daily Times that the ratings reflected the college’s strong First-Year Program (FYP), which includes requiring first-year students to select a 1.5-unit course following their interests and pairing students in similar courses.
Business First analyzed the statistical profiles of all 59 four-year colleges across Upstate New York. More than 95 percent of New York students will choose a college within New York State, according to the New York State Education Department.
