St. Lawrence University Board of Trustees Elects A New Member
The St. Lawrence University Board of Trustees is pleased to welcome a new member. Julie Black Hitch ’88 was elected to a six-year term and began her service this month. She has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to her alma mater, reflecting her deep ties to the Laurentian community.
Hitch's journey at St. Lawrence, where she graduated in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in English and was an active member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, was a time of significant academic and personal growth. Her enduring friendships with her sorority sisters and fellow Laurentians are a testament to the lasting impact of her time at the University.
Even after earning her master’s degree in Journalism from the University of Arizona, her involvement with the St. Lawrence community did not wane. She continued to serve in various alumni volunteer roles, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to her alma mater.
In 2016, she and her husband, Jordan, established the Jordan and Julie Black Hitch ’88 Endowed Scholarship, a transformative gift that supports St. Lawrence students with financial need. The couple also continues to support The St. Lawrence Fund generously, ensuring that future generations of students can access the same quality education and experiences that were foundational to Hitch’s success.
Julie and Jordan reside in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts, and have four children Emma, Charlie, Ty and Lily.
