Charles A. Dana Professor of Statistics Michael Schuckers was quoted in a recent article by 'The Athletic' about the rise of hockey analytics conferences (HAC) throughout North America.
In the article titled "A story of education, innovation, and community: the history of the 'HAC'", Schuckers explains the skepticism about hockey analytics when the work started gaining traction.
"There was a need to showcase the quality work that was going on and show that it could withstand scrutiny," Schuckers says. "Additionally, I think there was a need to make the online hockey analytics sphere more of a community. Being in a room with folks and interacting face to face is, in my opinion, important for building a community."
