Dr. Paul Levi Jr. '62
Dr. Paul Levi Jr. '62 has been a tremendous mentor to St. Lawrence students interested in a career in dentistry. After earning his bachelor’s in mathematics in Canton, he attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine where he earned his degree in 1966, and followed with an internship in Burlington, VT, in periodontology. After serving in the U.S. Navy for two years, he did his postdoctoral periodontal training back at Tufts, where he earned his Certificate in Periodontology before relocating with his family back to Burlington to establish a practice.
Dentistry is not only Paul’s profession but his hobby, as he has always been active in periodontics locally, nationally, and internationally. He taught for 27 years at the University of Vermont and remains on the faculties of Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Universidad International de Catalunya in Sant Cougat (Barcelona, Spain), and the University of Vermont Hospital’s General Practice Residency Program. Meanwhile, Paul also continues to practice in South Burlington, VT, at the Associates in Periodontics.
Paul’s expertise in the field of periodontal dentistry has made him a valuable resource to his alma mater, as he has assisted many students considering dentistry as a career choice by providing clinical exposure to the profession. He has made it his mission to interest bright undergrads in the critical field of dental health, and designed a popular six-week internship program to expose science majors to general dentistry and several specialties. As a Laurentian volunteer, Dr. Levi has also served his alma mater as a career advisor, a LINC mentor, an internship provider, a Shadow-a-Saint host and fundraising volunteer. He has been a loyal supporter of the St. Lawrence Fund and the Sigma Chi Endowment Fund for Classical Performing Arts, and is a member of the G. Atwood Manley Society.
