Jim Brush '77, P'08
Jim Brush '77, P'08 is executive director of E3, a nonprofit committed to improving educational outcomes for Rochester city school children.
He was president and CEO and, with his brother Douglas, was owner of Sentry Group, a privately held manufacturer and marketer of fire resistant safes, files and chests based in Rochester, New York. Jim joined Sentry in 1986 and held positions as national sales manager, vice president for sales, marketing and international, and chief financial officer. Prior to joining Sentry, he worked for IBM in various sales, marketing and management roles in Chicago from 1977 to 1986.
Jim is a current board member and finance committee chair at United Way of Greater Rochester and a member of the board at Caldwell Manufacturing, The Children’s Agenda and E3 Rochester.
Jim has carried on the legacy of his family by attending St. Lawrence, which includes his grandparents, parents, sister, uncles, and, most recently, his son, Davis ’08, and three nieces and nephews.
A former trustee, Jim received his bachelor’s degree in economics from St. Lawrence in 1977 and his MBA from Northwestern University in 1983. While at St. Lawrence, Jim was on the swimming team all four years and was co-captain of the 1976 NCAA National Championship swimming team, at the time the school’s first ever NCAA athletic title. He was also a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Jim is married to Carmen and has five children: Jamie, 33, Davis, 30, Libby, 29, Hector, 22, and Alejandra, 21.
