Sue Katzen '86

Sue Katzen '86 is the publisher of Redbook, one of the largest publications read by women in the United States, with a circulation of over 2 million readers. Redbook is published by Hearst Corporation. She has also held the positions of associate publisher of Cosmopolitan magazine and CosmoGirl! Over her career, she has held various advertising sales and management positions at Meredith Corporation and Hachette Filipacchi Media. She was named Publisher of the Year at the Media Industry Newsletter’s (min’s) Magazine Media Magazine Awards in June 2016, a top honor in the publishing industry.

As an alumna, Katzen has found the time to give back to St. Lawrence in many ways. She has served on the Alumni Executive Council, participated in the Laurentians in Residence program, hosted student interns at Hearst for our New York City Semester and was the speaker at the Women’s Initiative event in New York City in January 2016, sharing her professional expertise with fellow Laurentians. Since the program’s inception, Sue has hosted a Laurentians Investing in Networking and Careers (LINC) event at Hearst, which was attended by Todd Haskell ’90, senior vice president of digital marketing, Kevin O’Malley ’79, senior vice president and publisher of Elle magazine, and Drew Osinski ’10, account manager for Hearst digital sales.

Katzen graduated with a multi-field bachelor’s degree from St. Lawrence.
