Will Kies '97
Will Kies '97 graduated from St. Lawrence with a degree in history, then earned a Master of Arts in geography from the University of Vermont, where his research examined the impacts of large conservation easements on the Northern Forest region. He joined the Greenwich Land Trust, a member-based, non-profit organization dedicated to protecting local natural resources through open space preservation and environmental education, in 2016 as Executive Director. The Trust currently protects and cares for more than 755 acres of diverse woodlands, meadows, orchards, and tidal marshes.
Prior to joining the Land Trust, Will served as the Director of Education and Heckscher Farm at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center, serving in senior leadership for over 10 years. He also held positions at the University of Vermont, U.S. Geological Survey, and Outdoor Explorations as part of the AmeriCorps VISTA program.
In addition to volunteering in his community in Greenwich, Will served St. Lawrence as co-chair of the development efforts for his 20th Reunion. This past summer, he hosted a Laurentian gathering with classmates, and has been a consistent supporter of the St. Lawrence Fund and the Sustainability Semester Internship Fund. Will has worked with Career Services on posting and providing internships at the Land Trust and has also served as a career advisor.
