Identification Documents
- Driver's License or other government-issued photo ID (You will need this identification proof when you check in)

Residence Hall Furnishings
The University provides the basic furnishings for residential living (window drapes and/or shades, a single bed, desk, chair, wastebasket, dresser, and closet space per person) but a few other things can help you feel at home.
Bed Linens
- Twin extra-long sheets (mattresses: 80” long and 36” wide, extra long)
- Mattress cover
- Blanket
- Pillows
- Bedspread, comforter
Toiletries
- Towels/washcloths
- Shower tote
- Shower sandals/flip flops
- Personal toiletries
Clothes/Storage
- Winter jacket
- Gloves, scarf, winter hat
- Clothes hangers
- Boots/snow boots
- Umbrella
- Laundry bag
- High efficiency laundry detergent, stain remover, dryer sheets
Desk Space & School Supplies
- Energy-efficient desk lamp
- School supplies (i.e., pens, binders, notebooks, highlighters, stapler, etc.)
- Computer
- Stamps/ envelopes/address book
- Calendar/assignment book/planner
- Back pack/tote bag
- Batteries
- 3-prong extension cord (UL approved)
- 3-prong power strip and surge protector
- Flashlight
Food/Food items -- to pack light, consider picking these up later at a local store
- Snacks
- Water bottle and mug or cup
- Dishes, bowls, plates, utensils
- Dishwashing liquid and sponge or brush
Medical/Health Related Items
- Copy of health insurance card
- Contact info for your physician
- First aid kit
Other -- to pack light, consider picking these up later; you may find you want some things but not others
- Storage crate
- Fan
- Decorations (one or two tapestries or pieces of material per room; any other decorations must be hung so as not to damage walls or paint or create fire hazards)
- Command Strips
- Non-toxic cleaning supplies (disinfectant, cleaning spray and/or wipes)
Items to Consult with your Roommate About
- Microwave
- Small Refrigerator (limit one per room)
- Coffee maker
- TV
- Rug (we suggest 5 x 8)
What to Leave At Home
- Air conditioners and ceiling fans
- Candles and incense
- Charcoal or gas grills
- Darts and dart boards
- Dimmer switches
- Fog machines
- Halogen lamps and bulbs
- Hookahs
- Hot tubs, spas, and pools
- Hot Plates, including personal grills, panini makers, waffle makers, etc.
- Immersion coils
- Space heaters
- Sun lamps
- Toasters and toaster ovens
- Water beds
- Water dispenser
- Wireless router
- Wireless printers - they cause interference with campus wireless
Remember, you will have a chance to pick up what you find you need or ship items to yourself once you arrive on campus!
