Physics Department
Physics is the study of the fundamental principles that govern the entire natural world, from the atomic nucleus and elementary particles to the dimensions of the universe and the search for dark energy. Our students investigate these principles in small classes with emphasis on lab experiences, and many opportunities for faculty-led research. Physics majors leave St. Lawrence with the skills to pursue further study in a wide range of fields, such as engineering, astrophysics, and materials science.
Program Information
The Physics Department has a long tradition of students performing a research project as a 'capstone' to their academic experience. Majors work on an individual project selected from an area of common interest between the student and one faculty member.
There are also opportunities for students to get fellowships to perform independent research with a faculty member. The links below are some Summer Research projects performed by Physics majors.
