In Memory: Betty Jaskowski
I write to honor the memory of retired Finance staff member Elizabeth A. Jaskowski, who died on Wednesday, July 1, at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. “Betty J” worked in the Finance office from 1980 to 2007.
Betty’s colleagues remember a kind and conscientious person who greeted almost every employee when they came to Vilas to pick up their paychecks every two weeks, always remembering their names. Retired Vice President for Finance Kathy Mullaney said she was in awe of Betty’s skill, while Janet Rowe shared that while Betty was a dedicated professional, her greatest joy was her family. Betty served on the St. Lawrence Figure Skating Club board for several years, was a member of the “Complete our Pavillion” project, enjoyed shopping, bird watching, crossword puzzles and lunch dates every Wednesday at the Best Western’s County Seat Restaurant.
Lynn and I share our sincere condolences with Betty’s children Michael, Lori, Mark and Julie, their spouses, and her five grandchildren, as well as with the retired and active St. Lawrence employees who mourn this loss.
Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 2 Powers Street; Canton, NY 13617 or to the Potsdam Humane Society; 17 Madrid Ave.; Potsdam, New York 13676.
