In Memory: Harold Berube
Laurentian Friends,
We mourn the death on August 27 of retired Information Technology technician Harry Berube, who worked at St. Lawrence as a media technology specialist from 1990 to 2014. Harry was responsible for A/V setups both large and small, days and evenings, seven days a week on many occasions, for the entire campus.
Harry’s colleagues remember his kind smile and generous spirit. Rene Thatcher told me that “Harry loved St. Lawrence and was a big part of transitioning from analog to digital technology. He started his career at SLU supporting old megaphones, slide carousels and overhead projectors and when he retired he was supporting digital media. He was always ready for a challenge and helping to get the job done!” Jamie Richardson added “I worked with Harry at the end of his career at St. Lawrence, the same time that we were transitioning the AV technicians to being part of the computer technician group. Harry was always willing to learn something new. James Mattice and Jesse Sheehan also share with me their memories of a caring, humble colleague who did whatever he could to make life better for faculty, staff and students.
We extend our condolences to Harry’s family and his colleagues on campus.
