In Memory: Pamela Shea

Dear Laurentian community,

I write today with the sad news that Pamela Shea died on Sept. 5 at the age of 58. Before retiring in 2022, she dedicated 28 years to our community as a building supervisor and took the time to get to know students through her work.

Pamela was a 1983 graduate of Potsdam Central High School. As a child, she cherished summer trips to the Great Escape and Storytown, and always enjoyed playing tabletop games like Scrabble, Yahtzee and UNO. She was a lifelong animal lover and had several cats and dogs. She was also an activist for the protection of whales and dolphins. Pamela enjoyed keeping up with work friends and family on Facebook.

Pamela is survived by her companion, James “Jim” Hourihan; a brother, Scott Johnson; sister, Kimberley (Kerry) Dunbar; aunt, Sherry Whittier; stepson, Daniel (Mary) Hourihan; step-grandchildren, Bryton, Baylee and Mauve Hourihan; and other extended family members.

As we grieve the loss of our friend and colleague, we are grateful to Pamela for all she has done for our community.

Please join us in celebrating Pamela’s life by sharing your memories of her on the St. Lawrence University website. You can read the remembrances of others here.

Sincerely,

Kate Morris
