Transition in Student Life
Dear Laurentian community,
I write to provide an update on the transition in the leadership of the Student Life division. I have asked Karl Schonberg to serve as acting vice president for Student Life and dean of students starting on July 1 until we have an interim vice president in place.
We are working with the Registry to identify an interim vice president for Student Life and dean of students. This process has begun, and we hope to have an interim VP in place by the end of July.
The University has taken initial steps to begin the search for our next sitting VP. We have retained Spelman Johnson as a search firm. They have an excellent reputation, particularly for recruiting talented pools of candidates with Student Life leadership positions. To ensure time to discern the qualities we desire in our next vice president, and to ensure student engagement, we will begin the search process in earnest shortly after Labor Day. I expect to name a representative search committee at the beginning of the new school year.
I remain grateful to Dean Hagi Bradley for his years of service to St. Lawrence, and for the staff of the Student Live division, who are committed to continued support of our students as we move through this leadership transition.
I hope everyone enjoys a happy and healthy Fourth of July holiday.
Sincerely,
Kate Morris
