Peer Wellness Tutors
About the Program
Peer Wellness Tutors are trained to be knowledgeable about the numerous well-being tools offered at St. Lawrence. They are a great resource for students who want to improve their well-being, but aren't sure where to get started. Topics wellness tutors can assist with include:
- Adjustment to college and homesickness
- Managing academic stress through time management skills
- Getting involved and finding a sense of belonging on campus
- Improving sleep quality through sleep hygiene practices
- Brainstorming ways to exercise and move your body
- Ideas for getting out in nature
- Referrals to campus resources who can assist with your specific wellness needs
Tutors can also help you get set up with:
- Taking the Balanced Card Sort to help you prioritize wellness goals
- Using the BetterYou app to set and track wellness goals
- Using the TalkCampus app to join a global peer support community of fellow college students, available 24/7
Tutors attend a rigorous training and are supervised by professional staff. Training is led by a combination of faculty and staff, including the Wellness Education office, Counseling Center, and Biology Department faculty.
