  • Bescherelle: It is a French grammar and conjugation resource that was named after the French lexicographer Louis-Nicolas Bescherelle. The website provides access to mobile apps with personalized content. It is also a place for many learning tools such as dictation, quizzes, and language games.

  • Learn French by Podcast: Podcast lessons of the language, like vocabulary, alphabet, etc., that one can play or download as a pdf

  • News in Slow French: This website provides weekly news articles along with recordings of native speakers reading the text – with two options of pacing in order to aid comprehension for lower-level students. Activities highlight French grammar and expressions. Podcasts and additional resources for learning French lessons are also available on the website.

Dictionary:

  • Larousse is one of the most prominent French encyclopedic dictionaries. The interactive website also provides numerous learning resources such as games, forums, catalogs, archives, and many other. 
  • Tr-ex.me is a bilingual contextual dictionary, containing translations of various phrases. For each translation, they have examples of using in various sentences. The examples are taken from millions of texts previously translated ranging from dialogs (subtitles of the film), and official documents to multilingual websites.

Culture:

  • About-France.com: Information about the history of French, French culture, and country information. Contains news stories from France, grammar and vocabulary lessons, and French dialects.
  • Le Franco Phoney: Blog posts about various French topics.
  • The ARTFL Project: French government and University of Chicago collaboration. Provides access to many French resources for research papers. Free public databases provide information of French encyclopedias to architecture to French theater.
  • Herodote: Named after the ancient Greek historian Herodotus, herodote is a French website that focuses on world history. The rich database is valuable for anybody interested in researching the numerous topics that it covers. Although the website is well-structured allowing anybody to use it, students with intermediate/advanced French proficiency are the main target of the platform.
