Jon Duraj
Vice President for Student Life Jon Duraj is driven by a deep commitment to student success and a passion for creating supportive and inclusive environments where students can thrive. He served Wittenberg University in Ohio—his alma mater—from 2011 through early 2024, where he played a key role in enhancing the student experience through initiatives focused on well-being, student support, and leadership development. During his tenure, he had responsibility for the implementation of Wittenberg’s strategic plan’s four cross-divisional initiatives focused on culture change and transforming the student experience.
Jon’s journey in higher education began with a B.A. in management, concentrating on international business, from Wittenberg. He earned a master’s in higher education administration from the University of Dayton, followed by a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Ohio University. He also taught courses on organizational change, emotional intelligence, and higher education.
Throughout his career, Jon has led with a student-first approach, ensuring that all students are equipped with the resources, care, and community support they need to succeed personally, academically, and socially. In addition to his work in higher education, Jon has also made an impact internationally. He co-founded an international non-profit focused on community empowerment in South Africa and Lesotho, driven by his commitment to service and a love for exploring different parts of the world.
Jon has settled into the North Country, where he enjoys exploring the Adirondacks, Thousand Islands, and the wider northeast and Upstate region. He finds joy in connecting with others through cooking, spending time outdoors, and discovering new places. Jon also finds fulfillment in supporting students as they pursue their passions.
