I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has worked with college students since 2006. Before coming to St. Lawrence, I worked as a counselor at SUNY Canton and Clarkson University. I believe the counseling center at a liberal arts college is an ideal setting for supporting the continued growth and identity development of young adults during an important period of transition. I feel privileged to be a part of the team of student supports here at SLU. My approach in the counseling relationship is person-centered, and recognizes the importance of each student’s intersectional identities. I use a variety of cognitive behavioral and mindfulness strategies with my students to promote wellbeing and reduce distress. I have a strong belief in the importance of recognizing the role of physical wellness in optimum functioning, and I encourage students to gain greater awareness of the interrelatedness of their emotional and physical health.
In my personal time, I enjoy cross country, alpine and backcountry skiing in winter (when nature cooperates). In summer, I love wilderness camping, canoeing and doing anything involving the many wonderful lakes and rivers that surround us here in the North Country. My current favorite pastime is training my Golden Retriever, Gracie, to become a therapy dog. You can meet Gracie and me at one of our many Doggie De-Stress events on campus.
