Mare MacDougall Bari
Mare MacDougall Bari enters into her twelfth season as an assistant coach with the St. Lawrence women's hockey team in 2018-2019.
Since arriving in Canton, MacDougall Bari has become both the Saints' strength and conditioning and video coordinator. She assists with the recruitment of student-athletes to St. Lawrence and works closely with both the team's forwards and penalty killing unit. In addition to her duties with the hockey program, Mare also teaches courses in the Sports Studies and Exercise Science minor.
MacDougall Bari and the Saints had a banner season in 2011-2012, winning the program's first ECAC Hockey Tournament Championship and making a return to the NCAA Tournament. For their efforts, MacDougall Bari and the Saints' coaching staff earned 2012 ECAC Hockey Coaching Staff of the Year honors and she worked alongside the 2012 AHCA National Coach of the Year, Chris Wells.
MacDougall Bari joined the Saints' staff in 2007-08 after serving as an assistant coach for four seasons at Wayne State University. The Lumsden, Saskatchewan native graduated Cum Laude from Mercyhurst College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. As a defenseman, Mare helped the Lakers capture back-to-back league championships in her two seasons at Mercyhurst, and earned CHA All-Academic honors her both her junior and senior year. She was very involved in the Erie community, as she worked as a volunteer at an after-school program for at-risk children.
Mare lives in Canton, N.Y. with her husband and St. Lawrence Assistant Athletic Director Franco Bari and their dog Louis Riel.
