Timothy Savage
Tim Savage is a native of Malone, New York, where he began performing professionally at age 16. He holds a Bachelor of Science (1984) and a Master's in Music Education (1996) from the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam. He recently retired from a fulfilling 32-year career as a public school music educator in the Malone, Watertown, Carthage, Heuvelton, and Canton Central School Districts. Adjunct at St. Lawrence University since 2005, he has directed the Chamber Winds, the Wind Ensemble, and, since its launch in 2007, the Improv Lab. He also teaches private saxophone and jazz piano lessons at SLU. Tim is past president of the board of directors for the Orchestra of Northern New York, past chair for the New York State Band Directors' Association High School Honor Jazz Ensemble, and treasurer for the Crane Alumni Board. He is an active performer in a number of regional projects on keyboards and horns and enjoys playing in and conducting pit orchestras for regional musical productions, including SLU productions of Legally Blonde in Fall 2016 and Spring Awakening in Fall 2018.
