Currently I am a first-year graduate student in the physics PhD track at Texas Christian University. I just joined a research lab group that I will work with throughout my time here. They look at the spectroscopy and time evolution of fluorescence and phosphorescence. I am currently learning how to make dye samples and run their many machine. I should be getting my own project to work on shortly. I am a special case at TCU, I am at a Green Fellow which pays for my full tuition and stipend for my first year. I will then move to the typical plan where your teaching assistantship (teaching two labs) will pay for my tuition and give me a stipend.
I benefited from this program because of the courses that were offered in the first year at St. Lawrence University, especially our FYS course. Having the support of the professors involved was also a great help. They have connections to people that can further help, like the McNair program.
