Starting Friday, April 8 through Sunday, April 10, 2022 SUNY New Paltz will host its fourth annual Undergraduate Art History Symposium. This year's event will be virtual, allowing for many more participants than an onsite symposium.
The organizers of the symposium are looking for student papers that focus on any topic within a scholarly approach to art history and related fields such as film studies, archaeology, and similar. Interdisciplinary exploration and ideas are also welcome. Students can present past or current work based on their research, independent study, or an honors thesis. Student presentations during the symposium will be ten minutes in length with a question and answer period following.
The contact person for submission is Keely Heuer, Professor Liaison of the SUNY New Paltz Art History Association. An abstract, with title, for a student presentation should be 300 words or less and emailed to heuerk@newpaltz.edu by Friday, February 4, 2022. Students will be notified within two weeks after the submission deadline about the status of their submission. Also include with the abstract:
- Student's Name
- Email Address
- Major
- Academic Year
- Institutional Affiliation
This is an opportunity for students to hone their research skills, network with other like-minded people, see what's going on at other institutions, and also gain valuable professional experience.
Last year's event included 98 speakers from 64 different collegiate organizations. For last year's event see the following webpage...
