New Pre-Health Mentorship Program
First-year students have a new opportunity to get a jumpstart on their health career pursuits by participating in a program piloted this fall at St. Lawrence.
The Pre-Health Mentorship Program is designed to help students become “Informed, Committed, and Prepared” for application to the health professional or graduate school of interest. Weekly meetings for the 10 week program help students explore and develop their career choice rationale and also provide guidance on academic, shadowing, and service activities to promote holistic development of the student and their application package.
The program was designed and led by Pre-Health Program Co-Chairs Dr. Kari Heckman and Dr. Jane Kring, with the peer mentor assistance of senior students Julia Crocker ’22, Eve Golden ’22, Keelin Hurtt ’22, and Grace Smith ’22. Moving forward, Drs. Heckman and Kring plan to offer the program to first-year students in both fall and spring semesters.
