For the last century, the Candlelight Service has been a cornerstone of the St. Lawrence experience and the holiday season in the North Country. The service offers a pause for reflection before final exams and marks the end of the fall semester and the approaching turn of the calendar year. The service also signals the beginning of winter and the promise of longer daylight.
St. Lawrence University hosted its 100th Candlelight Service in Gunnison Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, Dec. 8. The theme for this year’s event was “Comfort and Joy" and the service featured the Laurentian Singers, University Chorus, and a community children’s chorus from Canton Central Schools.
