Saints Athletics Remember Enzo Corigliano ’22, who passed away on December 12, 2020
“This will memorialize Enzo at St. Lawrence forever,” said Head Squash Coach Scott Denne about the effort by teammates, friends, and family to raise funds to refurbish and rename Court #3 in honor of Enzo Corigliano ’22, who passed away on December 12, 2020.
A performance and communication arts and Francophone studies double major from La Flèche, France, Corigliano was an accomplished member of the Saints Squash team. The Liberty League Rookie of the Year in his first season with the Saints finished his second season with a 15-6 overall record, including a 4-0 mark playing at No. 1 in the Liberty League tournament and was named All-Liberty League. Prior to arriving at St. Lawrence, he captained the French National U15 and U17 Squash teams and was a member of the team that finished second at the European Junior Team Championships.
Corigliano was also well-known by many members of the Laurentian community since he worked as a French tutor for the peer tutoring program and as a teaching assistant for the Department of Modern Languages. He was always willing to offer a helping hand, which was evident in the spring 2020 semester, when he served on the Theme House Selection Committee as well as volunteered his time to assist others carrying items to their rooms during the fall 2020 Move-in Day.
The St. Lawrence University squash program has received a generous $10,000 matching gift from an anonymous donor to honor Corigliano. The University plans to refurbish Court #3, the court where Enzo trained and played most of his matches. A display will also be mounted in the Robie Squash Center lobby that will feature a plaque and photos as well as Enzo’s uniform and racket.
“People have been very supportive to the team, including the other varsity teams,” Denne says.
“Enzo had such an impact on our entire campus community. He gave so much to us, and this project will ensure that he lives on in our hearts here at St. Lawrence.”
