St. Lawrence Welcomes New McCurdy-Sprague Trustees
St. Lawrence University’s Board of Trustees has elected Andrew J. Alvarez and Tabitha Ferrer Flood, both Class of 2008 graduates, as McCurdy-Sprague trustees for a period of four years. Their terms begin on June 1.
Andrew J. Alvarez ’08
A North Country native from Lisbon, New York, Andy is currently a vice president, financial consultant with Fidelity Investments. In that role, he advises high net-worth families and foundations to create wealth strategies with the goal of building, preserving, and transferring wealth. He maintains his certified financial planner (CFP) designation as well as his securities and exchange licenses to provide his clients with comprehensive recommendations. He also has participated in multiple leadership programs through Fidelity and acts as a mentor for younger colleagues.
Alvarez graduated from St. Lawrence with a major in economics and a minor in Spanish. He spent his first two years on the cross-country and indoor/outdoor track teams, and participated in the Spain study abroad program. He was a member of the Singing Saints and an Admissions Ambassador for all four years, helping prospective students discover all that St. Lawrence has to offer.
Since graduation, Alvarez has been a Laurentians Investing in Networking and Careers (LINC) mentor, participated in Career Services panels and has helped students obtain internships at Fidelity.
Alvarez resides in Boston with his wife, Melina Alvarez ’08.
Tabitha Ferrer Flood ’08
As a native “Bronxite,” Flood is an attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell, LLP’s New York office. Her practice focuses on litigation matters, including complex civil litigation and corporate internal investigations. Before joining the firm, Flood clerked for the Honorable George B. Daniels of the Southern District of New York.
She graduated from St. Lawrence with a bachelor’s degree in government. While at St. Lawrence, Flood was a student justice for the Student Judiciary Board, a member of the Thelomathesian Society and a member of the Rugby Club. She was also a recipient of the Bradley R. Evers Outstanding First-Year Student Award. While Flood was in high school, her life as a teenager was featured in The New York Times.
Flood graduated from Howard University School of Law, where she earned the highest GPA in her first-year class.
She currently resides in New York City with her husband, Michael Flood ’02.
