The Thelomathesian Society (also known as “Thelmo”) is donating $1 million to create an endowed fund aimed at increasing the availability of student mental health care on the St. Lawrence University campus.
Inspired by her passion to promote mental health and well-being on our campus, especially the emotional wellness of student-athletes, Jan Egbers P’21 is presenting St. Lawrence University with a $1.5 million gift, which will create an endowment to support St. Lawrence mental health and counseling services. The fund also honors retiring long-time Head Golf Coach Mary Lawrence by naming the position the Mary A. Lawrence Head Coach for Men's and Women's Golf.
St. Lawrence University is furthering its support of student well-being and mental health by partnering with The Jed Foundation (JED) and their signature program JED Campus, a nationwide initiative designed to help colleges evaluate and strengthen their mental health, substance misuse, and suicide prevention programs to provide strong mental health support systems for students.
Throughout the fall semester, faculty, staff, and students across campus have collaborated to facilitate mental health programming that helps students build a support network at St. Lawrence during this time of uncertainty.
