As a new Community Mentor, I am most excited about learning more about Canton and connecting with the community beyond the St. Lawrence University bubble. I'm looking forward to exploring the rich community dynamics and culture of the North Country, building meaningful relationships with local organizations and community members, and gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in our area. This role offers a unique opportunity to help students bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world experiences while contributing to positive change in our community through collaborative efforts. I'm eager to expand my horizons and make a lasting impact on both students and the wider Canton community, fostering connections that will enrich my understanding of this vibrant region.
Fun fact: I am going to Kenya next spring to learn Swahili my sixth language.
Where is home? Tunisia

What do you like most/enjoy most about SLU? What I enjoy most about SLU is the strong alumni network and connection to the university. Working reunion is my favorite experience at SLU, with June being my favorite month. It's fascinating to see all the lives that have passed through and been shaped by this prestigious educational institution. Witnessing their different journeys and their willingness to help and mentor current students is truly inspiring. It makes me feel like I belong to a supportive and enduring community.
Why should every student take a CBL course during their time at SLU? Every student at SLU should take a CBL course during their time here. These courses offer a unique opportunity to apply classroom learning to real-world situations, connecting students more deeply with the community they're living in for four years. By participating in CBL courses, students can gain practical experience, develop civic responsibility, and enhance their problem-solving skills, all while making a meaningful impact on the local community.
