Returning from a leave of absence or withdrawal
If you took a leave of absence, a personal withdrawal, a medical withdrawal, or were suspended and are preparing to return to SLU, here is a checklist of the things you should do or might wish to do.
Readmission process
- Online readmission form from any kind of withdrawal, leave, or suspension: https://www.stlawu.edu/offices/student-life/readmission-application
- If a medical withdrawal, medical documentation supporting return is needed
- If an academic suspension, approval of the Academic Standing Committee is needed
Readmission-related processes
- If needed, pay the outstanding balance and/or complete loan exit counseling
- Check outstanding balance (use Transact eBill button): https://colss-prod.ec.stlawu.edu/Student
- Complete loan exit counseling (this link is informational and directs students to external links)
- If you qualify for federal financial aid, complete FAFSA: https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa (external link)
- Check with the Financial Aid Office regarding the satisfactory academic progress (SAP) requirement if you have failed or withdrawn from courses
Other processes after readmission

- Update your address/phone number (if changes have occurred since you left)
- Update (emergency) contact information in APR2: https://colss-prod.ec.stlawu.edu/Student
- Registration occurs in early November for the spring semester and early April for the fall semester: https://colss-prod.ec.stlawu.edu/Student
- Transfer credit approval process (if you have taken courses you hope to transfer back to SLU)
- Change Academic Information Release (FERPA permissions)
- Change major, minor, and/or academic advisor
Other preparations
- Check in with your academic advisor(s), coach(es), and other mentor(s)
- Update Handshake profile and check in with Center for Career Excellence, schedule an appointment to update your resume.
- Schedule a readmission planning meeting with Academic Advising
