Weekend Schedule
As plans for Laurentian Weekend 2024 take shape, this page will be updated.
11 – 9 p.m. | Registration
Dolan Family Lobby, Appleton Arena

12 – 5 p.m. | Exhibition: Change Is a More Accurate Measure of Time – Photographs by Mark Klett ’74
Richard F. Brush Gallery, Griffiths Arts Center
The exhibition features 12 photographs from El Camino del Diablo, a project based on a journey by a young mining engineer, Raphael Pumpelly, through Arizona and Mexico in 1861 on “the road of the devil.” Over 150 years later, Mark Klett ’74 traversed the same route, making photographs in response to Pumpelly’s words. Unable to trace the engineer’s exact steps, Klett created images that are not literal references to specific places or events. Rather, he sought to produce a more poetic narrative to their shared experience of the Arizona desert, along the common route that connects the two through time.
12 – 5 p.m. | Exhibition: Our Place in the Scheme of Things – Photographs and Videos from the Eco.Echo Art Collective
Richard F. Brush Gallery, Griffiths Arts Center
Our Place in the Scheme of Things explores our human mindset about nature, the need to contemplate it amid climate change, and the increasing eco-anxieties we face. The exhibition includes fifteen artists from the Eco.Echo Art Collective: Morgan Barrie, Jeff Beekman, Dennis Dehart, Kes Efstathiou, Tyler Green, Jessica Hays, Josh Hobson, Megan Jacobs, Sarah Knobel, Michelle Leftheris, Jason Lindsey, Laura Plageman, Areca Roe, Melanie Schoeniger, and J. Wren Supak, whose work contemplates understanding and improving our relationship with the natural environment.

Enjoy some time on the river! A ten-minute walk from campus, the Canoe House is easily accessible. On Park Street, go past Augsbury and the science buildings heading out of town, before crossing the arched bridge over the Little River, turn right on the gravel road and follow the road along the river about 100 yards.
