Information for SLU Faculty and Staff
The Center for Career Excellence values our partnerships with faculty and staff and is always open to discussing new ways of collaborating to provide our students with the best possible career advising, preparation, and overall experience. The Center for Career Excellence has a number of resources that may assist faculty as you work with your academic advisees. Please contact us with questions, if you have an idea for collaboration, and please direct your students to our website and online resources, as well as to our office (SC 202).
We also recognize that many faculty and academic departments have strong alumni connections and may engage alumni guests for programming and other career-related activities. We ask that you consider sharing this information, as well as information you may receive regarding internships, jobs, and networking leads, with our office. We are always looking to engage new alumni with our programming and services, and eager to help spread the word about career opportunities and connections made through academic departments.
The Center for Career Excellence Tool Kit for Faculty:
Handshake is our online career management platform. All job and internship opportunities we receive are posted within it, as well as on-campus and virtual recruiting events, and workshops and programs; our key resources like Vault, CareerShift, and Focus2 are housed within it. All SLU students have access to Handshake by using their SLU login credentials.
Individual Appointments with the Center for Career Excellence professional staff and student interns may be made through Handshake. Students of all class years are encouraged to make appointments to discuss a variety of topics including career exploration, resume and cover letter writing and refinement, internship and job search, networking connections and strategies, graduate school applications, interview preparation, and skill development. Students may also stop by our office in the Sullivan Student Center 202 or call x5906 to receive appointment assistance.
Presentations and Workshops are available on a wide variety of subjects throughout the academic year. All our events are posted in Handshake; upcoming events can also be found on the Center for Career Excellence website.
If you would like the Center for Career Excellence to offer a presentation or workshop to your class, or assist you in creating a program for your students, please contact us at (315) 229-5906 or careers@stlawu.edu.
