Eligibility

CSTEP is designed to increase the number of students from under-represented groups who are pursuing professional licensure and careers in scientific, technical, health-related fields or licensed professions.  Applicants must be New York State residents. 

In addition, students must be enrolled full-time and be in good academic standing in an approved scientific, technical, health-related, pre-professional, or professional undergraduate or graduate program of study. 

Economic eligibility for the program is based on published New York State Opportunity Program tables for annual adjusted gross income and the number of individuals residing in the student's household.  A student is considered economically disadvantaged if he or she meets these specific income eligibility requirements.  Each student must submit income documentation to the CSTEP Office as part of the application package.  

Individuals considered under-represented in scientific, technical, health-related fields or licensed professions self-identify as African-American, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian or Alaskan Native.
