Early Decision/Early Action Applicants

Early Decision

Our Early Decision program begins each year on November 1 and ends on February 1. Students who decide after November 1 that St. Lawrence is their first choice, can commit to Early Decision at any time up until February 1. Admissions staff review Early Decision applications on a continual basis, and we notify Early Decision applicants as their applications become complete.

Early Decision applicants who wish to be considered for financial assistance are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS Profile.

The FAFSA is a student application for federal and need-based aid programs. Students can complete the FAFSA online using this link. St. Lawrence University's school code is 002829. The Department of Education anticipates that the 2025-2026 application will be available by December 1, 2024.

The CSS Profile is an online application used by colleges and scholarship programs to award aid. Students can complete the CSS Profile using this link. St. Lawrence University's school code is 2805. The 2025-2026 CSS Profile is now available.

The CSS Profile has a filing fee that may be waived by the College Board based on your family’s income. If you do not qualify for an automatic fee waiver, and have special circumstances that impact your ability to pay for the application, you can apply for a St. Lawrence specific fee waiver code at:

The financial aid applications should be completed when the admissions application is submitted. Students applying before December will need to complete the CSS Profile and can then complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA as soon as it is available.

Notification of preliminary financial assistance for Early Decision applicants will be at the same time as notification of the admissions decision as long as we have completed financial aid documents. After the 2025-2026 FAFSA can be completed, updated financial aid details will be confirmed for Early Decision applicants.

Early Action

Students who prefer to receive their admissions decision earlier in the year can apply Early Action before December 2. Admissions staff review Early Action applications in December and notify applicants of their decision in mid to late January.
