String Orchestra

String Orchestra

The String Orchestra is open by audition to orchestral string players including students, staff, and faculty from the SLU campus as well as local professional and semi-professional musicians and talented local students. We endeavor to create memorable concert experiences for our audiences, whether it be standard repertoire or lighter pop music program selections.

A dedicated approach and passionate focus from its players have given the SLU String Orchestra its exceptional musical reputation on the university campus and throughout the local community.

The spring 2025 semester launches us into an exciting and challenging program entitled Journey to Adventure, featuring dramatic and emotional music written for the screen by iconic composers such as James Horner, Ennio Morricone, Michael Giacchino, and, of course, John Williams.

This semester will include the addition of woodwinds, brass and percussion to our usual complement of strings, culminating in a large symphonic experience sure to be enjoyed by film music lovers of all ages!
