Observing at AO - Nov. 2010
Heather Cutler '12 accompanied SLU astronomers Dr. Aileen O'Donoghue and Jeffrey Miller to the Arecibo Observatory for 4 nights of observing between November 23 and 26, 2010. Also observing with us was Colgate University astronomer Dr. Tom Balonek, his student Phil Patrick '11, and astronomer Dr. Ron Olowin from St. Mary's College of California. Heather learned the procedure for operating the telescope, and a little about flagging data. We had a great observing run, explored the observatory from top to bottom, and enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast of turkey cold-cut wraps and flan.
