UAT Workshop 2008
The first NSF-sponsored Undergraduate ALFALFA Workshop was held at the Arecibo Observatory on January 13 - 14, 2008. The Workshop is part of the NSF-sponsored Undergraduate ALFALFA Teamprogram to promote undergraduate research within the ALFALFA project. Attendees are given tours of the telescope, and operate it during observing runs. The Workshop was attended by 37 students and their faculty mentors from 15 undergraduate institutions. Shawn Golley '08 attended the workshop with SLU astronomers Dr. Aileen O'Donoghue and Jeffrey Miller to present the results of his senior research project: "The Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA Survey: The Hunt for Radio Galaxies"
