Alpha Alpha Alpha
On April 28, 2023, St. Lawrence University founded the Eta Nu chapter of Alpha Alpha Alpha (AKA Tri-Alpha), the first-generation college student honorary society, which is open to first-gen students with at least two semesters at SLU (one semester for transfer students) and a GPA of 3.2 or higher, as well as faculty and staff who were first-gen college students.
Our campus chapter of Tri-Alpha works closely with the First-Gen Initiative to put on programming to support and celebrate first-gen students.
New students are inducted into the Eta Nu chapter every April. An invitation to qualifying students, as well as to faculty and staff, will be sent out each spring. Here is a list of our current Tri-Alpha Inductees.
Tri-Alpha membership provides you with
- An outward recognition of personal accomplishment and an incentive for continued high scholarship.
- The opportunity to meet other first-generation scholars from all academic disciplines and to join them in promoting academic excellence and creating a supportive environment for first-generation college students.
- A recognition to employers, professionals, and graduate schools that you are a person of superior academic ability and commitment.
- The opportunity to mentor younger first-generation students.
- The opportunity to receive mentoring from more senior first-generation students, as well as faculty, staff, and alumni who were first-generation students.
