Kim Asch
Kim Asch joined St. Lawrence’s University Communications division in July 2022. As executive director, she leads an exceptionally talented team of strategists responsible for promoting and strengthening the visibility, stature, and reputation of the University and actively positioning it with key constituents and critical audiences.
In collaboration with the vice president and assistant vice president, Kim guides the conceptual and strategic direction for content development and leads the team in creating, integrating, disseminating, and measuring content through all University channels, including the website, social media, presidential communications, and various marketing campaigns. She also serves as editor of St. Lawrence Magazine. As part of the crisis communications team, she helps to develop and execute crisis and emergency communications plans and serves as the University spokesperson.
Kim began her career as a journalist for newspapers in Baltimore and Washington, D.C., but found that her true passion is advocating for nonprofit institutions and the crucial role they play in changing lives and strengthening communities. Most recently, she served as senior communications specialist at the University of Vermont Medical Center and Health Network. Previously, she worked for 18 years at McDaniel College in increasingly senior roles including director of marketing & special projects. In that capacity, she oversaw the conception and creation of a wide range of communications designed to engage alumni and prospective students, served as editor of The Hill magazine, and managed a signature speaker series for the President’s Office. Kim works remotely from her home outside of Burlington, Vermont, where she frequently runs into St. Lawrence alumni. She spends several days each month on our Canton, New York campus.
