We are excited to announce that Professor Brezault has received a prestigious CNY Humanities Corridor grant, in collaboration with fellow scholars from prominent New York State institutions. Next year, she will join forces with Professor Aurélie Matheron from Skidmore College, Professor Delali Kumavie from Syracuse University, and Professor Ivana Ancic from SUNY Cortland to delve into environmental issues in Africa.
Their collaborative research will focus on exploring the poetic representations of air and land, along with themes of extractivism, waste, and mining throughout the continent. The team aims to unpack how artists challenge dominant narratives and deconstruct colonial remnants and systems of power through literature and the visual arts, fostering transformative change in our understanding of these critical issues.
